About Counselling

The aim of counselling is to empower you to take ownership of your own life, to make decisions in your own best interests and to begin to make intentional, positive changes to shape the life you want. This is done through me providing a space where you can be truly heard. I will listen to you in an impartial manner and support you to explore your issues and hopefully identify what might be causing negative feelings and causing blocks to you being your true self. Counselling is not about me telling you what to do or give advice; we will work collaboratively to help bring about the change and growth you desire.

Our relationship

I believe it is fundamental that a therapeutic relationship is centred on trust and respect. I will offer you a confidential space where you can hopefully learn to feel safe to explore your issues. I will listen to you with compassion and without judgement or personal agenda. In our sessions we will explore your experiences and challenges at your own pace because I know how difficult it can be to talk about our problems. Therapy works best if you are open to self-exploration and eventually discussing factors in your personal history that may be uncomfortable to talk about initially.

Our sessions

We will agree a regular weekly time and our sessions can be in-person or online. The length of time we work together is completely up to you; you might be looking to explore possible solutions for short-term issues, or better ways to manage longer-term struggles.  I will conduct regular reviews to make sure that we are staying true to your therapy goals.

I offer a free initial assessment of up to 30 minutes via telephone or online. This gives you the opportunity to share your reasons for therapy and for me to describe how I work. We can then both see how we feel about working together. There is no obligation to commit to any further sessions at this time. Please contact me to arrange this.
