About Claire

I have always been fascinated by human behaviour and which factors help or hinder us in living the lives we want. This led me to undertake postgraduate qualifications in psychology and pursue a career in mental health research. At the same time, I trained as a volunteer with Samaritans. By listening to callers’ stories, I learned the value of providing a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive space for people to process their thoughts, emotions and experiences. Through these years with Samaritans grew a desire to develop deeper relationships than just the one call, so I went on to train and qualify as a therapeutic counsellor.

As a counsellor, I provide a compassionate and client-centred approach to therapy. With empathy and insight, I aim to guide you towards self-awareness, resilience and positive change; empowering you to navigate challenges and achieve personal growth. I can work with individual clients on almost any issue, however if I feel that you could benefit from more specialised help, I will help to signpost you to the appropriate resources.

I currently work as a counsellor in private practice and with a local charity in Bromley providing financially accessible counselling. Feedback from clients is that I provide a calm space where they feel heard and validated; also, that I provide a different perspective on their experiences which can help them to move forward. See some recent testimonials below.

In a complementary way, my research work enables me to deepen my understanding of the complexities of mental health. For example, in my current role at King’s College London (KCL) I am working closely with families with lived experience of neurodivergence to learn more about how best to support them. If you would like to read more about my research work, please visit my KCL profile page here.
